Our Five Rules for Safer Play are in place so children and caregivers get the most out of their visit to CWCM.
Being safe means there is more time for fun!

1. Stay and Play Together
Grown-ups and children must stay together at all times. Adults are responsible for monitoring and assisting children in their care.
2. Limit Cell Phone Use
CWCM encourages adult and child interaction! Please engage with your child and limit phone use during your visit.
3. Help Maintain Exhibits
Cleaning up together is a fun part of learning. Help prevent damage to exhibits so visitors after you can enjoy them too.
4. Snack in the Snack Area
Help keep the museum clean and avoid spreading of allergens by enjoying your snack in the snack area.
5. Use Walking Feet
Keep it safe by slowing down. Walking feet with shoes are required at all times.

- Practice kindness towards all visitors, volunteers, and museum staff
- Use positive, kind, and respectful language
- Discriminatory or aggressive language, profanity, and harassment will not be tolerated. We encourage our visitors and community to join CWCM in ongoing learning about how we can create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
- Visitors attired/adorned with offensive language or images may be asked to cover up the words/images during their visit to support a welcoming environment for all.
- Respect all other people in this space
- Ableism, ageism, homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, or prejudice based on ability, appearance, asylum status, class, ethnicity, gender, gender presentation, nationality, or religion is not welcome at CWCM, and will not be tolerated. Be aware of, and respect, the emotional and social boundaries of others.
- Help all children and families have a safe and enjoyable visit
- Share the spaces, toys, and exhibits with others. Take turns when playing. Don’t throw or swing objects. Be careful of energetic movements around younger children, especially those who are crawling or toddling.
- Stay home if unwell
- If you or anyone in your party is experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay home. You may be asked to wear a mask if you exhibit noticeable symptoms, such as coughing.
- If your child isn't well enough to attend school, they aren't well enough to play at the museum.
- Use positive, kind, and respectful language
- Practice kindness towards all spaces, exhibits, and animals
- Take care of the exhibits
- Our exhibits are designed to be touched and played with, but do avoid causing damage beyond normal wear and tear. Place any object that children have put into their mouths or otherwise soiled into contamination bin in the STEM Lab; we will clean and sanitize it.
- Alert museum staff if an exhibit component becomes damaged.

- Clean up before you move on
- Help reset an area when you leave so the next family to use the space can have fun, too. Replace toys or craft supplies to the area they came from.
- In the Snack Stop area, follow directions to dispose of waste and clean the space you used. Alert museum staff if an area needs extra attention.

Please review the Rules for Safe Play and Code of Conduct with everyone in your group before you visit, and help them if they need reminding throughout your visit.
