Healthy Halloween Tips for Families from CWCM:
  • Instead of candy, give out healthy alternatives to the trick-or-treaters who come to your door.  Some ideas include sugar-free gum, small packages of nuts or raisins, instant cocoa mix, fruit rolls, pretzels, small toys, stickers, pencils, or coupons to favorite places like the Children’s Museum!
  • Make sure kids eat a balanced meal before going trick-or-treating.
  • Adults can model healthy habits by practicing moderation when it comes to sweets.
  • After Halloween is over, freeze some of the candy and offer it periodically as a substitute for dessert.
  • When indulging in candy, mix in healthy snacks like a glass of milk.
  • Don’t forget, dessert can be part of a healthy diet.  Moderation is the key!
