Toddler Music
Preschool
Your group may participate in this special program at a special “group only” time. Retired Music Teacher, Fran McKinney leads children and their caregivers in singing, movement and percussion. This program enhances early learning skills including cognitive development, physical abilities and social skills, and is just plain fun! The program is geared toward children ages 2-5.
Happy Feet
Pre K – 2nd grade
Feet are Fun! Our field trip proves it! Students will explore how their feet work, what feet do, and how our feet are like our hands. We utilize basic math skills by measuring our feet and counting our toes, build balance and rhythm skills by doing a dance using our feet, and challenge ourselves by making art using only our feet. Take your shoes off for this engaging field trip.
Life in a Log
Preschool – 3rd grade
This science based program teaches children that every living thing needs a home, fallen logs are part of the food chain, and animals need to adapt to their environment. In this field trip, we explore the log as a habitat for plants and animals, and as a site of decomposition and renewal. We will use our imagination to create our own log and log creatures from craft supplies. Dramatic play help us understand that animals live in and around the log just like we live in our homes Environmental understanding and discussion concludes the lesson, cementing the concepts we explored in the minds of the students.
Farm to Market
Preschool – 4th grade
Learn about nutrition, the parts of the plant, and the grocery store through this multiple intelligences field trip. Easily adaptable, this field trip uses interpersonal, math, naturalistic, body-kinesthetic, and other intelligences to discover facts about food your students never knew before. Participate in a meal race, produce sorting game, and a food hunt. Schedule this field trip over lunch and eat with us, analyzing what parts of your meal come from plants. Students also have time to explore the garden and the grocery store, practicing making smart food choices of their own.
Monoprints
Preschool - 5th grade
We’ll make prints similar to the way newspapers print the paper each day. This project appeals to a wide range of age and ability levels. We’ll learn the vocabulary of the printing industry and apply it to our own creations. By creating a monoprint, we’ll experience art not through a brush or pencil, but through a q-tip, a piece of Plexiglas, and your creativity. Lift the paper away, and behold your one-of-a-kind monoprint!
Hand-Made Paper
1st - 6th grade
Experience the gratifying efforts of recycling coupled with the creative rewards of art. Our art room hosts many projects, few as time honored as Hand Made Paper. We’ll blend pulp, press our paper, and let dry to create individual art while discussing the environmental impacts of our actions. Students make choices and see the impact of their work while learning the basic process of a fundamental Wisconsin Industry. A staff led activity coupled with our normal art room creativity and exploration policies makes for a highly satisfying field trip.
Field Trips may be booked during museum hours- Wed & Fri 9am- 4pm, Thurs 9am-8pm, Sat 10am-4pm, and Sun 12pm-4pm.
